Save the date: Australian Aphasia Association conference coming to Perth in November 2023

The national conference for the Australian Aphasia Association is being held in Perth, WA across the 6th, 7th and 8th of November 2023.  It is wonderful to have this event back in WA as it is a fantastic opportunity to bring together the aphasia community: people living with aphasia, their supporters, therapists and researchers.  Stay tuned for further information but in the meantime, mark these dates in your calendar.

Words of Wellness Forum.

Aphasia WA held a unique one – day event aimed at sharing the ways people with aphasia maintain wellness and wellbeing. It included talks from people living with aphasia from across WA; a talk about grief and loss from Social Worker Iris Barten; a meditation workshop by Dr Britta Biedermann of Curtin University and a group sing-along. The day ended with a mindful eating experience led by Eamon Barron from FoodBank. The day was a terrific success!

International Day of People With Disability

To mark the International Day of people with Disability, Aphasia WA hosted a supper and bowls night at the Lake Monger Recreation Club in Wembley. A wonderful evening was held with over thirty people celebrating, including many people living with aphasia and their supporters.
